Ed Farrelly is an intrepid young climber with a history of adventure and a thirst for new physical, mental and technical challenges. Amongst other things Ed is set to become one of the youngest mountaineers of all time, aged 20, to scale the heights of Khan Tengri in Kyrgyzstan, one of the most technical high altitude peaks in the world at 7010m, in August 2012. On the same expedition he will also be attempting a number of unclimbed peaks in the At-Bashy range up to the height of 5000m.

What did Ed have to say about his upcoming expedition:   'I’ve climbed in some of the most popular high altitude regions in the world including South America and the Himalayas but what I really enjoy about the Tien Shan is the level of remoteness. This is what drives me. The fact most have never heard of Khan Tengri excites me and without passion for what you’re attempting you’re bound to fail. Many have and will continue to climb the well known mountains like Everest. This is a whole different challenge.'

Ed has travelled to and climbed on some of the biggest mountains in the world including Chapayev in Kyrgyzstan, Mera peak and Baruntse in Nepal, which he also became the youngest person ever to summit aged 18. He has also had to battle extreme temperatures, suffered frostbite and helped in a rescue attempt after reaching the summit of Aconcagua, South America's highest peak.

For a number of years Ed has been raising funds and awareness for both the Alzheimer's Society and Depression Alliance, two charities close to his heart.
